Both of these paintings were done in painting workshops as student demonstrations! No wonder I have students that never come back….. My idea was to present a very abstract idea in a realistic way, there is really not subject to these paintings, just shapes, colors, textures and flows. I love these paintings, as they are bordering on the abstract ideas that have been running through my brains for a long time, but I also love realism. The meeting of the two in these paintings please me, and I am surprised that I have not sold the earlier Colorfest I. Now I have two and perhaps there will be a third in the series of Colorfests. I acquired all those boxes and shapes for my drawing students, and I bins full for them to pick from. Nothing is quite as difficult to draw correctly as elipses and I notice that most of my drawing students avoid them like the plague!
