Farm Relic                  Pastel                11½  x 8½                 $160

I don’t work outside very often these days. Mostly it is an organizational process of who, what, where, when…..more bother than seems necessary when I can go into my studio  and be safe, dry, comfortable, and out of the brutal Florida sunshine. However, nothing compares to working in Plein Air, and this little pastel is the result of a splendid afternoon spent at the farm/estate of a local Dade City artist. It was an outing organized by a member of North Tampa Arts League and all the work was done. I just had to show up with my art gear in the car. I walked around for quite awhile looking for inspiration and found it by the barn. I spent quite an enjoyable time, under a tree, working on this pastel, while about 10 cows lined up on the other side of the fence to watch me. Actually every time I looked up it seemed that they were staring at me with those big eyes. It was funny and creepy too.
