THE FEELING SERIES

This ambitious project started about 20 years ago with the thought that I would like to capture different emotions on canvas. It has since become my Magnum Opus! Realizing that it would be hopeless to try to depict a universal image of a feeling I opted to make these paintings my feelings and emotions and they are very autobiographical. Many people say they do not see Anger or Love or Joy in my paintings, but they do seem to see something, and that is fine with me. The symbols are both universal and personal and seem to have both a conscious and unconscious level of understanding. Most of the images for these paintings come to me in dreams, meditations, visions, and sometimes antique or other “found” objects will resonate with me, and a painting will develop around that particular image, as in the staircase in “Jealousy. “ I have 5 more paintings to do in the series, so there will be 12 paintings in all.
