Normally I do not like themed art shows. I never have work that fits the category and I seldom have time to create new work on a schedule. However, themed shows are, I suppose, a necessary evil and it does spark one’s imagination and creative juices at times. The show called “Art of Love” was coming up for the second year around Valentine’s Day, in a gallery for North Tampa Arts League, and as a “good” member I felt obligated to put something into the show. I had the shoes which were destined for another painting, still to be painted, and the cherry camisole was waiting for me in the back of the sale racks at Bealls Outlet, just the perfect addition to my Love painting. The rest was easy until I found the heart bowl and kisses on the arm of my husband’s chair and I had to grab them out of his clutches until the painting was finished! This was a juried show and this one made it into the show while the one I really liked better was rejected! (see it) Such is the life of an artist!
