Trilogy I: Pear Garage oil 16 x 20 $400 unframed

The Trilogy Series, Pear Garage, Grape Jump and Lemon Gazebo were inspired by one of those moments that happens to me in a flash. I was walking past the window of Bombay Company in the University Mall and these little architectural “things” jumped out at me. I stopped to admire them and thought how great they would be to use in my drawing classes for learning perspective. I went in to inquire about them and was told that they were part of an executive golf set, for putting golf balls at the office, or something like that. And the price was not too bad, but still far above the limited budget for buying such unnecessary items.

By a fluke I was given a gift certificate to any store at the Mall that Christmas. Of course I raced over there, knowing exactly what I was going to buy. I was thrilled to find them on sale, and I got the last one!

I worked on these three paintings during the winter and spring of 2005. They are sort of weird but whimsical and silly too, which shows you that I do have a mellow side.
