Spanish Moss 18 x 24 pastel $450 (framed)

From the day we moved to our community in Zephyrhills I wanted to paint these stately live oak trees by our pool and clubhouse. I took photographs and they didn’t come out well. Finally I went there one afternoon and started this pastel. As often happens, I didn’t much like what I had done and it went to the back of a closet for a couple of years. I was invited to do a demonstration as a publicity stunt at a local supermarket to advertise an art group I belonged to at the time. Not knowing what to work on, and being totally out of time, in desperation at the last minute I dragged out this half-done pastel to finish as a demonstration at the supermarket. I figured I had nothing at all to loose! The result of the work that day, and a few more sessions after that in my studio, resulted in the pastel you see above. You never know when inspiration will strike….it can happen in the strangest places!
